Monday, July 31, 2023 - Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Hotel & Lodging Association is seeking nominations for its first-ever Sustainability Award (Presented by WoodRiver Energy). This award will recognize an Iowa hotel or lodging establishment committed to excellence and leadership in the protection of the environment and the implementation of sustainable practices. Nominated properties must provide examples of how they’re reducing, reusing, and recycling for long-term sustainability and the environment. Self-nominations will be accepted.
The winner will be chosen based on the impact of their sustainable practices, creativity, and innovation and the level of difficulty required to implement and maintain these solutions. They will be honored at the IHLA’s inaugural awards program Monday, October 2, 2023, in West Des Moines.
“Hotels and lodging facilities are homes away from home for weary travelers,” said Jessica Dunker, president and CEO of the Iowa Hotel & Lodging Association. “Operations embracing eco-friendly practices prove that sustainability does not have to compromise comfort or luxury. We want to elevate the practices of sustainability leaders in hopes others will be inspired and follow suit.”
“WoodRiver Energy is proud to support hoteliers as the energy partner for the IHLA, ” says Don Krattenmaker, COO of WoodRiver Energy. “By sponsoring this award, we aim to inspire and celebrate the businesses who go above and beyond in the pursuit of sustainable practices.”
Nominations can be made, and event tickets purchased at hotellodgingiowa.com.
